Welcome to Didima (Cathedral Peak)

Didima lies within the Cathedral Peak valley of the Maloti-Drakensberg Park World Heritage Site. It is a four-hour drive from Durban and five hours from Johannesburg via the N3.

About

It is set in the Drakensberg foothills, offering stunning views onto the towering peaks of the ‘Berg, and is surrounded by scenically beautiful grasslands, streams, waterfalls and craggy cliffs. The Cathedral Peak area is a hiker’s paradise, offering routes ranging from a few hours to several days of walking, hiking, camping and adventure. Didima celebrates the now-lost culture of the San people and captures an element of their oneness with nature. The accommodation style and layout follow a symbolic expression of the San (or Bushmen) culture and way of life. Didima Resort’s restaurant and bar provides guests with the option of fully catered meals in its warm and relaxed atmosphere.

Activities

Cathedral Peak is a hikers’ paradise, with its many hikes ranging in duration from one to several days. A local map with details on eight different walks commencing from the resort is available at the reception office. Didima offers a tennis court and swimming pool for exclusive use by guests. Didima Rock Art, Community Campsite and Mike's pass 4X4 drive for vehicles is currently closed to public. Please note: The Mountain Rescue Register situated at reception must to be completed before you begin your hike/walk. Make sure you sign out again when you return. Please ensure that you complete the mountain rescue register correctly and in detail. It is very often the only information the rescue team has to go on if you have an accident or get lost. When you leave the park, it is essential that you record your return in the mountain rescue register. Failure to do so wastes valuable time for managers during rescue operations. Your life may depend on this information.
